U-Vision Visual Function Therapy Program

U-Vision is a virtual reality (VR) based visual function training treatment product for children with mild to moderate amblyopia and fusion deficiency. It adopts the brain science research results of Peking University’s research and technology team, combined with the technical advantages of VR, and uses fun videos and games to make the amblyopia treatment process more attractive and interesting, so as to achieve better treatment results.

Unique patented technology of asynchronous dichoptic visual stimulation

This product adopts asynchronous dichoptic visual stimulation mode, the technology is transformed from the results of 863 and 973 projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China, and has obtained relevant patents.

This technology creates a temporally and spatially asymmetric stereoscopic video signal that is specially encoded and viewed by patients through the left and right eye channels of the VR glasses for personalized treatment. The binocular asymmetric visual stimulation mode dynamically regulates the synaptic strength of the binocular cells in the visual cortex, thus balancing the mutual inhibition between the eyes of amblyopic patients, which is more targeted than traditional amblyopia treatment methods.
 
The research results were published as a cover article in the prestigious Chinese journal Science China Life Sciences under the title “New treatment for amblyopia based on rules of synaptic plasticity: a randomized clinical trial”.

New animated video training format

At present, most of the domestic children’s amblyopia rehabilitation treatment is long and boring, and it is difficult for children to adhere to it for a long time, and the treatment effect is not easy to be guaranteed. The content library now has more than 100 Chinese and English animations/movies, and is continuously updated. Patients can choose to watch the animated video content they are interested in by wearing VR, and finish the amblyopia treatment in a pleasant and relaxing environment, which greatly improves the compliance of the treatment.

At-home training mode

U-Vision uses WeChat applets for training process control, combined with VR for amblyopia training. At the same time, it can provide health management services such as vision data monitoring and online training plan, creating a home and offline treatment mode that can be used to obtain visual rehabilitation training conveniently anytime and anywhere, greatly reducing the energy burden of patients’ families.

Function Introduction

I. Video stimulation training

Choose the patient’s favorite animation/movie on the WeChat applet side, and the patient can start watching the selected movie after wearing VR glasses. During the movie watching process, by providing the amblyopic eye with visual sequence stimulation that is ahead of the normal eye at a specific time, the synaptic strength in the neural circuit is intervened to enhance the amblyopic patient’s visual information storage, processing and handling ability, thus obtaining amblyopia treatment.

II. Visual skills training

Visual skills training is mainly based on the five modes of eye movement: gaze, sweeping, following, convergence and convergence, and the training is divided into training of basic visual skills and training of basic visual skills. This training is implemented through the following two games.

Visual following

First remember the marked target, follow the target’s movement trajectory visually, click on the target when its movement stops, and if the click is correct, the score should be updated and upgraded to the next level. Through the training of visual following ability and visual memory ability of the eye, the visual use ability of amblyopic patients is improved, thus improving the vision of amblyopic eyes.

Hand-eye coordination

Hold the controller with both hands and control the lightsaber to cut the oncoming square, the square is cut into two pieces after the lightsaber cuts the square and the score is updated. This exercise is a good way to train the patient’s visual sweep and hand-eye-brain coordination. Also, forcing the use of the amblyopic eye can better improve the visual acuity of the amblyopic eye.

.Binocular visual function training

Binocular visual function training is to train the regulation function, collection function, eye movement function and coordination of both eyes through targeted optics and psychophysics, so as to improve the application ability of binocular visual system and achieve the purpose of comfortable and coordinated use of both eyes. This training is realized through the following two games.

Schulte table
Click the numbers sequentially in the order from smallest to largest within the time limit, if all points correspond to an audible prompt, and update the score. This training improves visual stability, discrimination, directional search ability, and the ability to see the end of the eye, thus improving binocular vision function.

Random dot fusion (E direction)
Judging the direction of the E opening in the center of the screen and selecting the corresponding direction, there should be an audible prompt if the judgment is correct, and the score is updated. With this training, the patient’s visual fusion function can be trained.
